GIRLS AREN'T INTERESTED IN ME!
I've never had a girlfriend. Mike advises.

by Michael Ross

HEY MIKE! I’m 18 and have never had a steady girlfriend. If all the stuff I read in Breakaway is true about what girls look for in guys, then why can’t I get a girlfriend? I’m understanding, and people can easily talk to me. Yet girls aren’t interested. What am I doing wrong?

—G.C., Parkers Prairie, Minn.

You and about 100,000 other Breakaway readers have asked this question!

I'll be totally honest: Girls are just plain hard to figure out at times. While they say they're attracted to sensitive guys, many go for the ones with the 'N Sync looks — and the verbal skills of Neanderthals! But just when they seem interested in you, they begin treating you like the invisible man.

Even after all these years, I still don't fully understand the female mind. Yet the more I think about it, the more I realize that they aren't all that different from us: I mean, face it, we're often more attracted to a girl's outer appearance than to the inner person.

So, here's my point, G.C. While many girls look first at the outside stuff, they eventually ask themselves some deeper questions: "Is he someone I can share my feelings with? Is he godly? Can I trust him?

Don't give up. Keep treating girls with respect. Eventually, they'll get their eyes off 'N Sync and on to guys like you. logo
