What is the sweetest thing a guy has ever done for you?

“After working hard on a roof all morning during a missions trip, our youth group went inside for lunch. We were all so exhausted that we didn’t talk much while we ate. After a while I ran out of water. But when I turned to get up, our youth pastor said, ‘Hey, if you casually announce what kind of drink you’d like, I’ll bet one of these guys would get up and get it for you.’ So I did. And sure enough, my friend Andrew grabbed my cup and refilled it.”
—Melinda, 17, Iowa

“My best guy friend lives far away, and he sends me letters. I think it’s so sweet, because he actually keeps in touch and cares enough to do so. He shows me he cares about what’s going on with my life.”
—Julene, 14, British Columbia

“I wasn’t going to go skiing with my youth group because I was afraid nobody would be on the bunny slopes with me. But my guy friend (who skis double-black-diamond slopes!) said he would ski with me on the little slopes.”
—Kristen, 14, Maryland

“When I’m having a bad day and my boyfriend doesn’t try to do something physical, like kiss or hug me tight. He just encourages me or says, ‘Hey, you know what? I’m praying for you, and I know you can make it through this! Keep your focus on the right things and you will be through it.’ He keeps the whole deal pure, especially when I’m feeling down physically or emotionally.”
—Kerrie, 18, Mississippi

“None of the kids in my youth group have a car, so we all take the bus home from the church. None of the kids live near my sister and me. It can be dangerous walking from the bus stop to our house in the evening when it is dark. But we never have to worry about it because one of the guys from youth group always walks us home. None of them care about how far they will have to walk to their own house afterwards, even if it is a couple of miles. They care about our safety more than their own comfort.”
—Alicia, 13, Ukraine

“I was at a talent show playing a song I had composed on the piano, and I was kind of embarrassed at the end, because I had made a few mistakes. But my guy friend in the audience actually stood up for me and clapped loudly even though he got a few strange looks.”
—Jane, 15, Washington

“My youth group was on a retreat, and I fell and hurt my ankle really bad. We were going to go shopping in a quaint little town with an awesome fudge shop, but I had to stay at the cabin, because I couldn’t walk. I don’t really care for fudge, but my best guy friend bought me two big boxes of custom-ordered fudge. I had to eat it after he went through all that trouble just for me. Later my friend told me that he had been walking all around town holding my fudge. And he had to wait outside for everyone, because he couldn’t go in the stores with two huge fudge boxes. He is the awesome-est!”
